Our Future Plans

During the 20 years since St Luke's opened much has changed and the Hospice has adapted, increased and improved services.

The Hospice is steadfast in ensuring that our primary focus is making sure the very best is offered to those in our community with life limiting illness. This not only means ensuring our high standards of care are maintained, but it also means looking at how we can best develop our services to meet the changing needs of our patients and, their families and carers within a sustainable affordable plan.

We have an exciting vision of our future that builds and strengthens the relationship between us and the community via actions that promote good governance and management. We are currently exploring various options to extend and expand our Hospice.

Meanwhile, we are delighted to announce the first phase of our development plan, designed to alleviate the stress on our current accommodation as well as increase services.

St Luke's House in Lampits Hill Corringham was officially launched in February 2009. Lukes, our Specialist Children's Counselling Counselling Service and Macmillan Dove Community Counselling Service has been relocated there, together with specific clinic time for the Social Work Service, Complimentary Therapy Service and Macmillan Welfare Benefits Service. As well as providing the above services, this new property has also enabled us to start a new concept in providing information, support and advice on an informal easily accessible, user friendly basis within our new Information Resource Centre.

The emphasis of specialist palliative care and end of life care continues to be a part of the government's strategy for improving healthcare. The End of Life Strategy published during 2008 provides a framework for delivery and service development which the Hospice will be working to implement.

Our future will be an exciting journey of challenges as we continue to improve the services we provide, keeping St Luke's at the forefront of palliative care.
