Lukes Counselling Service for Children and Young People

’Lukes’ Counselling Service for children and young people believes in an honest and open approach to support, enabling children and young people to share their anxieties and feelings in a trusting and safe environment. By acknowledging the impact of a life challenging illness, or bereavement, children and young people have an opportunity to express their feelings in a supportive environment. ‘Lukes’ provides an opportunity through 1-1 support/counselling or group work for children and young people to ‘tell their story’ and meet others, thereby reducing the sense of isolation that can be experience during a challenging time.

This service, based at St Luke's House, is available for any children and young people aged between 0-19 years within West South Essex.

Services offered:

Short term 1-1 Counselling/creative therapy
Group weekends children/carers
Mini groups according to age and circumstances
Bereavement support visits
Phone advice, guidance and support
Pre-bereavement support and help
1-1 support or group work – living with or caring for a parent with a life challenging illness

Local off-site facilities for limited one to one work in a creative play environment.

1-1 counselling within schools.

Group work and weekend children's programme based at St. Luke's.

Weekend adults programme at local venue or St Luke's Hospice.

Home visits and assessments with the home environment.
