Professional, Community and Business Partnerships Thurrock Community Chest The Thurrock Community Chest is a charitable trust and registered charity which recognises and supports the vital work of good causes and groups within the community using simple but effective fundraising. In 2005 by way of strengthening links further with the community, a fundraising partnership was formed between St. Luke’s Hospice and The Thurrock Community Chest. Both organisations share a lot of the same ethos and philosophy in that we exist to support our local community, albeit in very different ways which are very tangible and easy to access. Our aims are to supply a need with minimum ‘red tape’. We exist simply to help wherever we can, with minimum fuss. Caring and supporting the community is at the heart of both organisations and it was with that in mind that the partnership was formed. Through our working partnership with Thurrock Community Chest we have been able to work as a team to organise and support fundraising events and initiatives, re-design the raffle tickets, help resource the many raffle prizes needed, share fundraising ideas, knowledge and skills, all of which have been instrumental in significantly increasing the profile and income that is available for the many good causes that apply to the Thurrock Community Chest for funding and the Hospice. It is encouraging to see that in a recent survey sent out to groups who participated and benefited from the Community Chest there was 100% positive response confirming that our partnership was seen as having a positive effect.
