The Wig Bank is a free wig service for women who have lost their hair as a result of cancer treatment or alopecia, and is run by qualified hairdresser and wig specialist, Julie Waker. All she asks in return is for clients to consider making a minimum donation of £20 to support the work of St. Luke’s Hospice.

As part of the service, you will have the opportunity to browse the selection of wigs available and have a one-to-one consultation with Julie. For a donation to the Hospice (£20 minimum suggested donation), Julie will fit, cut and style a wig to suit your personal requirements.

All wigs have been donated to the service and many of them being brand new or have never been worn. Each wig is cleaned and conditioned to a professional specification before being paired with its new owner.

Julie says:

“I know that wigs can be very expensive and many women who have experienced hair loss would benefit from a more accessible and affordable wig service. Choosing a wig can also be daunting and confusing, especially for the many ladies who come to the Wig Bank having lost their hair through illness or treatment.

"The aim of the Wig Bank is to make sure all women can experience the benefits of having their own wig, and to give them the opportunity to find something that is comfortable for them.”
